adidas Originals looks to two of their most iconic models to aide in celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the Superstar model by fusing both the Superstar and Stan Smith models into an all-new hybrid makeup. The adidas Originals Superstar originally released in 1969 and has become an illustrious model in the adidas product range which is identifiable around the world because of basketball legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and renowned rap group, Run DMC. Similarly, it's predecessor the adidas Originals Stan Smith first released in the early 1960s and was the first signature pro-model for the tennis player Robert Haillet prior to Stan Smith's name being attached to the model. Up until 1978 Haillet’s name still appeared on the model until adidas officially changed the name to the adidas Stan Smith.
Combining hues from both models brings forth a generation to come of classic mashups. The Superstan features a premium leather upper accented with a leather liner to ensure a comfortable fit. The printed branding on the tongue provides added style and classic Stan Smith elements. The metal eyelets are accompanied by flat cotton laces and the iconic rubber shell toe of the Superstar model. Other elements include the perforated 3-Stripes on the side panels, the debossed Trefoil and Stan Smith branding on the heel, and lastly - this model sits atop a classic rubber cupsole unit.
