Kim Shui debuted her first womenswear collection at New York Fashion Week in 2016. The up-and-coming designer was raised in Rome, Italy by Chinese parents, and now runs her business in New York City. Shui’s design language is filtered through the lens of her multicultural background and aims to be inclusive of all body types and cultures. Combining a bold mismatch of unexpected fabrics, Shui’s clothing tells a new story of female empowerment with sculpting, eye-catching garments. Her unique use of cutouts, ties and ruching accentuate the form, while sheer, mesh fabrics are used to imagine tailoring in contemporary ways.
