Norma Kamali
With over 55 years of experience in the industry, Norma Kamali first gained notoriety for her use of material, specifically a silk parachute that she turned into an oversized “sleeping bag” coat, once featured at the MET’s In America: A Lexicon of Fashion exhibit. Since launching her brand in 1969, Kamali has had many iconic moments, from Farah Fawcett’s red one-piece bathing suit in 1976 to popularizing the shoulder pad in the 80s, and is known today for her expert approach to draping and elevated womenswear.
