Nike by Gabrielle Serrano Air Max 98 OA - La Mezcla
Last year Nike announced they would be holding a month-long contest in celebration of Air Max Day - dubbing it the On Air contest where they allowed fans from six major cities around the world to come forth and create their very own Nike Air Max shoe designs. Gabrielle Serrano better known as Queen Leo, hailing from Queens, New York was the lucky winner who was able to bring to fruition her own execution of the Air Max 98 and pay homage to where she's from hence the name of this shoe La Mezcla or in layman's terms "Melting Pot". This model features a stylish gradient effect on the leather upper which highlights the various skin complexions within NYC. Various hues of teal and light blue can be found throughout the upper which embodies the colors of the Statue of Liberty. Embroidered details can also be seen which ensure classic Air Max 98 qualities. The mudguard features a grey cracked leather which symbolizes the concrete jungle of NYC. On the medial panels embroidered longitude and latitude coordinates can be found for Times Square, a place that captures the entire ethos of this sneaker. Other elements include the embroidered mini Swoosh on the toe box and side panel, heel pulls with printed graphics, a fully visible 360-degree Air Sole unit, and a semi-translucent rubber outsole. The Nike by Gabrielle Serrano Air Max 98 OA - La Mezcla is available at Kith Shops and Kith.com.
