Nike celebrates its rich history in basketball with the 5 Decades Collection, which will release as a global exclusive at the Nike x Kith Shop this Friday prior to a wider release next week. This ensemble of footwear features five models that each represent a different decade, beginning with the 1970's and ending with the 2010's. Rich Vachetta leather, premium stitching, and rose gold accents are seen throughout the collection, thus translating the athletic designs from the court to the street. The Blazer Low represents the 1970's, as it originally debuted in 1973 on the feet of George "The Iceman" Gervin. This model features a deconstructed leather upper, a navy heel tab, and a vulcanized rubber sole unit. The all-new Air Force 1 High Lux represents the 1980's. As its name suggests, the AF1 High Lux takes a luxury approach towards this classic basketball silhouette. Updates include leather fringe details on the heels, leather straps with rose gold wings and rings, cross-stitching on the side panels, and an extended U-throat. The integral AF1 sole unit remains intact to maintain a classic aesthetic. The Foamposite Pro represents the 1990's. The molded upper is paired with premium leather components, most notably the bib, the inner-sock, and the spring plates. This model is also adorned with metallic rose gold Swoosh logos. The final model is LeBron's first signature sneaker which represents the 2000's - the Air Zoom Generation. A really luxe vachetta leather is fashioned for the upper, which includes perforated panels and debossed Swoosh logos. Metallic rose gold accents are used throughout, while the final detail is a full gum outsole. The fifth decade (2010's) is symbolized through the yet-to-be-released Bonafide silhouette, which showcases the inspiration of Nike's basketball history while simultaneously progressing its aesthetic forward.
