Kith Editorial for the Nike Air More Uptempo
Next Wednesday, Nike releases the Olympic-rendition of the Air More Uptempo. This classic basketball model made its debut in 1996 and was famously worn by NBA Hall of Famer Scottie Pippen during the Atlanta Olympics. Since then, the Air More Uptempo has become a cult favorite, evolving into more than just a sneaker but a product of its era. In 1996, the world turned its focus to the street, as fashion became oversized, hip-hop began dominating radio, and art was no longer restrained to galleries but found its place on walls with the continued growth of graffiti. The Air More Uptempo encapsulated all of these qualities with its unique AIR branding, which spoke to its pure performance-based qualities.
To commemorate this special release, we have partnered with Nike to release the Air More Uptempo with exclusive special packaging. In addition, the first 96 customers to purchase a pair will receive a limited Air More Uptempo hat, as well as a ticket to a very special event. This ticket will grant these 96 customers access to an in-store event on Kith Brooklyn on 7/23, where none other than Scottie Pippen will be our special guest to discuss his Olympic memories, his favorite basketball sneakers, and all things Uptempo.
The Nike Air More Uptempo – Olympic releases next Wednesday at Kith Manhattan, Kith Brooklyn, and KithNYC.com. The first 48 in-store pairs at Kith Manhattan and Kith Brooklyn respectively will receive a ticket to attend our special event with Scottie Pippen in Brooklyn on Saturday, July 23. Stay tuned for more info early next week.
