To close out and commemorate the 90th anniversary of Disney’s global icon, Mickey Mouse, Kith presents our first ever collection with Disney. Kith silhouettes and custom fabrications meet timeless Disney renditions to celebrate the life and history of Mickey Mouse as evolved through the decades, ranging from the 1920s – today. The assortment spans approximately 80 – styles of co-branded apparel, footwear and accessories for adults and kids.
The overarching concept for the collection is the ‘Best of KITH for the best of Mickey’s milestones’ as Kith selects eight of their favorite iterations of Mickey Mouse through the ages and matches them with eight of the brand’s signature fabrics. These fabrics set the foundation for custom takes on this “True Original character” as he is re-imagined into Kith’s design aesthetic throughout the collection.
Beginning with Mickey Mouse’s original 1920s art style, Kith creates an assortment of denim styles using staple silhouettes such as double pocket hoodies, trucker jackets, and kimonos featuring his likeness embroidered or executed in Swarovski crystals. The 1930s Mickey is represented through corduroy rugby shirts and varsity jackets, while the 1940s Fantasia Mickey receives a variety of sweater knit garments such as cardigans, cableknits, and more. Wool flannel tops embody 1950s Mickey, while 1960s and 1970s are covered by seersucker and Sherpa fleece respectively. The last two decades – 1980s and 1990s – utilize twill for the former and puffer outerwear for the latter. The fabric story element of this collection is complemented through a range of Kith Classics pieces featuring Kith for Disney branding.
Footwear for this collection was made with Converse, as Kith and Disney use the Chuck Taylor 1970s silhouette to create three tri-branded versions. The first model is executed in classic canvas and features Mickey Mouse’s face printed on the upper with his ears acting as the eyelets of the shoe. The second model is in black leather and displays a timeline of Mickey Mouse through the years, used throughout the collection. The third model is entirely Sherpa fleece and color blocked in Mickey Mouse’s iconic color palette.
The Kith Kids portion of this collection includes styles for different age ranges, including hoodies, tees, denim jackets, onesies, and accessories.
