Kith Treats for Katz's Delicatessen

Kith Treats honors Katz’s Delicatessen—New York City’s legendary hometown eatery—for a special New York edition of The Heritage Program.

To maximize this spotlight on Katz’s Delicatessen, Kith Treats has partnered with The Infatuation, a renowned publisher of culinary reviews and restaurant guides, to amplify the Heritage Program initiative as the honoree advocate. 

Each honoree inducted into the program is recognized with specialized programming shared through both entities’ editorial lenses, offering the honorees the opportunity to cater to a wider audience. For each installment of the Heritage Program, Kith Treats develops confections inspired by the honoree’s specialty offerings, which are then made available on Kith Treats’ menu for a limited time.

Since 1888, Katz’s Delicatessen has been a cornerstone of New York City’s Lower East Side. For over 135 years, Katz’s has served their iconic sandwiches, matzah ball soup, knishes, latkes & other traditional specialties to both New Yorkers and visitors from around the world, earning generations of loyal customers and international acclaim.

Katz’s first opened its doors in 1888 as a small family-run eatery serving the growing immigrant community of the Lower East Side. Originally known as “Iceland Brothers,” the deli became “Iceland & Katz,” when the Katz family joined as partners in 1903. In 1910, the Iceland brothers left the business, leaving the Katz family in sole ownership. The name was officially changed to Katz’s Delicatessen in 1917.

Today, Katz’s continues to thrive while honoring its roots. Their Houston Street location remains a hot spot, serving thousands of sandwiches daily while expanding its reach with nationwide shipping, allowing food fanatics across the country to enjoy a true taste of New York. The deli’s uniquely unchanged ticketing system and bustling counter service add to its everlasting, authentic charm. The heart of Katz’s lies in its commitment to time-honored recipes and techniques, ensuring every bite tastes the way it did decades ago.

Kith Treats has teamed up with Katz’s Delicatessen to create two limited-edition ice cream specials inspired by their iconic deli staples. Each inventive dessert puts a modern twist on Katz’s classic menu offerings—bridging over 135 years of Katz’s rich tradition with Kith Treats’ decade-long journey of innovation and culinary creativity.

The Dilluxe
Vanilla ice cream infused with Pastrami-Seasoned Rye Bread Croutons, Ground Mustard Seeds, Katz’s Full Brine Pickles & French Toast Crunch, topped with Pastrami Seasoning and garnished with a Katz’s  Half Brine Pickle

The Latke
Vanilla ice cream infused with Sour Cream & Onion Chips, Apple Sauce & Corn Flakes, topped with Apple Jam & Maldon Salt and garnished with Katz’s Mini Latkes

The Dilluxe & The Latke will be available at Kith Treats Manhattan, Williamsburg & Dumbo beginning Friday, 9/12 while supplies last.
